Hugo Restrepo y CÍA is a family-owned chili paste exporter based in Colombia and Peru, operating since 1976. To support farmers in their supply chain, they developed Appsicum, a proprietary digital tool used by field agents to log interactions, deliver guidance, and track crop progress—improving transparency and farmer engagement.
Our Product
Appsicum enables field agents to:
- Record and manage farmer interactions across the cultivation cycle
- Provide real-time guidance and technical advice directly via the app
Offer end-to-end traceability for purchasers
These features help ensure quality control, increase efficiency, and build trust across the value chain.
Under this agtech project, Hugo Restrepo y CÍA aims to:
- Develop new features in Appsicum to streamline how field agents support farmers
- Build an accessible app specifically for smallholder farmers
- Train agents and farmers on the enhanced platform
- Increase chili crop purchases from smallholders
- Pilot the upgraded app with 200 farmers
