Satellite-Powered Insurance for Climate Resilience

Company Background

SUYANA is a climate tech company offering parametric insurance that uses high-resolution satellite data and proprietary algorithms to better predict, measure, and respond to climate-related risks. By improving how climate hazards, production value at risk and farm losses are estimated, SUYANA delivers more accurate and affordable insurance products. Their hybrid model blends satellite-based predictions with on-the-ground validation, reducing the cost and complexity of post-disaster loss assessments. SUYANA’s full-stack products are designed for embedded B2B2C business models, enabling insurers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses to easily distribute coverage to smallholder farmers.

Our Product

SUYANA’s core offering is a suite of parametric insurance tools that trigger payouts based on weather data, rather than individual loss claims. This approach makes insurance more transparent, predictable, and scalable — especially for rural and underserved communities. By embedding these products into partner’s package of services for farmers, SUYANA helps extend climate protection to those most exposed to droughts, floods, and other extreme events.

Under this agtech project, Colcafé aims to:

  • Develop a high-resolution Early Warning System (EWS) for Bolivia, capable of detecting weather anomalies
  • Launch a communication platform tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers
  • Improve climate resilience for 4,000 farmers through real-time alerts and optimized parametric insurance delivery
