Weather Intelligence for Climate-Resilient Farming

Company Background

Ignitia is a Sweden-headquartered social enterprise focused on tropical weather forecasting for farmers and agribusinesses in emerging markets. With operations in West Africa, Latin America (through Ignitia Latam Ltda), and now expanding to Colombia, the company delivers highly localized, accurate forecasts—84% accuracy compared to ~39% from legacy providers — and has reached 2.8 million subscribers across Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Brazil, and Kenya.

Our Product

Ignitia provides daily, 48hour hyper-local weather forecasts (down to 3–9 km²) via SMS, WhatsApp, app, web, or API—powered by satellite data, AI, and supercomputer-scale processing (experimenting with ~5 trillion data points). By integrating crop-specific advisory and extreme-weather alerts, it empowers farmers to make smarter planting, fertilizing, and harvesting decisions—achieving an 89% behavior-change rate and up to 80% increases in farm incomes.

Under this agtech project, Ignitia aims to:

  • Calibrate forecasting models for the Caribbean Coast and Cundinamarca regions in Colombia
  • Conduct UX research and pilot the service with local Colombian farmers
  • Implement marketing and sales campaigns tailored to Colombian needs
  • Reach at least 18,000 farmers in Colombia
