Digital Solutions for Superior Coffee Drying
Company Background
Colcafé is a leading Colombian coffee processor committed to transforming farms into Sustainable Coffee Enterprises. Backed by Grupo Nutresa, Colcafé blends traditional expertise with digital innovation to enhance post-harvest quality and farmer livelihoods. Under this initiative it’s piloting digital tools for enhanced drying processes in the Farallones del Citará region.
Our Product
Colcafé is developing a mobile app and data infrastructure to support technical assistance to farmers around best practices for parchment coffee drying. The app provides real-time guidance, while the pilot includes a tech-enabled, modular drying device aimed at ensuring consistent quality of coffee drying.
Under this agtech project, Colcafé aims to:
- Survey drying practices in Farallones del Citará
- Build data systems for insights and advisory at scale (1,000+ SHFs)
- Launch the drying-assistance mobile app
- Pilot a drying device alongside the app with 50 smallholder farmers
- Train farmers on the use of app and the new drying device
